A tribute to the original!
It was September 30, 2001, that the first-ever geocoin was placed in a geocache sitting above Puget Sound, near Deception Pass in Washington State. You can learn more about that first geocoin adventure here.
This was a special project of beloved geocacher (and now Lackey) Jon Stanley, who created the first ever geocoins. Moun10Bike geocoins continue to be the most coveted in the game.
To celebrate 25 years of geocoins, we have a special two trackable geocoin set that is sure to be a pride point of any collection.
One side celebrates the original Mount10Bike design, while the other side is based on the geocache where the original geocoin was placed. This side has a pivoting ladder, as well as trackable micro geocoin that is connected with a magnet. The ladder serves as a coin stand, or the micro geocoin can be displayed at its top.
Both the full size geocoin and attached micro geocoin included in the set are trackable at Geocaching.com with a unique icon.
